Companies like ours exist in close relationship with the landscape and the natural environment, we are surrounded by all kinds of trees, flowers, and hardy shrubs and in our nurseries, we tend each individual plant, through every stage of its growth. From our headquarters we can look out on the magnificence of Mount Etna, the power of the sea, and the extraordinary spirit and diversity of our territory.
It follows that environmental-friendly practices and behaviour are of the highest priority for us and we put this into practice through responsible and eco-friendly measures.
From 2003 to present, we have installed photovoltaic panels on 40% of the roofs of our offices which provide us with the electric energy we need. As a result, we have made notable reductions in CO2 emissions.
The need to save water has been the driver behind improvements in our irrigation systems. Today we use drip irrigation and have seen a 60% reduction in our water consumption since 2000. We can truly say that we count every single drop of water that we use.
Most local trips and travel within our nurseries and headquarters involve the use of electric cars producing zero emissions.
We are at the forefront for the promotion of eco-friendly concepts, the fight against pollution and the use of alternative and renewable energy sources: we organize meetings and conferences aimed at raising environmental awareness among stakeholders and the public.
State-of-the-art technology and advanced agronomical techniques increasingly support our green way of doing business, including the reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
We have been awarded some important certificates which prove our commitment to the environment.
– Global G.A.P – The Worldwide Standard for Good Agricultural Practices.
– MPS – Milieu Programma Sierteelt, which judges the environmental effect of production.
– MPS Fruit and Vegetables: for sellers and producers of sustainable product.
